Week two started

We are now in the second week of the course and we are reading about Noodletools and ABCD objectives.

I just want to thank the “E-teacher Scholarship Program” for giving me this wonderful opportunity to learn about  new technology and how to make my teaching on par with the fast moving world.

I am going to be a high-tech ESL practitioner!!!

More to come about this week's task and discussions!!!!!!

  1. Hi Umescha.

In the introduction thread you mentioned that you are a "literature person". Does it mean you also teach literature?

I'm curious, if you do, are you already thinking about how you can implement high-tech into teaching literature as well?

  2. Hello Umesha,

How things are going? Do you catch up with the course?

Just to continue the topic of literature, if you are teaching literature, I wonder whether there are some websites you know where people can freely download short stories in English. As the matter of fact, there are a number of websites that offer classical short stories to read and download for free, however, my students sometimes are eager to read something contemporary. Time to time I find something interesting there, but not always they are so exciting as they are advertised. Are there any that you have already used and know about?

    Thanks a lot.

    Best,
    Yuriy

  3. Hi Yana and Yurily,

Good to hear that you two are also interested in literature.

Unfortunately Yana, I do not teach literature at the university but I always try to incorporate literature to teaching. I haven't really thought about literature and high-tech as such, but why not. It’d be interesting. Hmmmm will think about it and write to you soon.

Yes Yurily, finally I am back on the track. There were times I too wanted to find short stories and couldn't find anything useful at all. Even though I am new to blogging I do read others' blogs and I found some blogs by Sri Lankans and there were some nice stories.

Why don't you try that? Some blogs from your country, especially if you want to go for speaking activities via that. It provides context and students can identify with that too. What do you think?
